Exxon Sees Global Gas Demand Rising Over 20% by 2050 Amid Coal-to-Gas Shift

ExxonMobil anticipates global natural gas demand will increase by more than 20% by 2050, driven by industrial usage and substitution for coal in developing regions

To meet this demand shift, the company plans to raise gas production by 18% over the next five years. Despite an expected plateau in oil consumption after 2030, Exxon forecasts it will remain above 100 million barrels per day through 2050, with oil and natural gas comprising 55% of the global energy mix
