Following an investigation, the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) came to the conclusion that the product had been sold to India at dumping rates, which had an effect on the domestic industry, and proposed a tariff on imports of "stainless-steel seamless tubes and pipes" from China.

In a notification, the directorate stated that a five-year anti-dumping duty was "advised to be levied."

Seamless stainless steel tubes and pipes are employed in structural applications as well as the transportation of liquids and gases. It is utilized in applications related to atomic energy, petrochemicals, refineries, and thermal and nuclear power plants, as well as oil and gas.

Chandan Steel Ltd., Tubacex Prakash India Pvt. Ltd., and Welspun Specialty Solutions Ltd. have complained to DGTR regarding the investigation's dumping and start-up.

Between USD 114 and USD 3,801 per ton is the recommended duty. The decision to enforce these obligations rests with the finance minister.

The responsibility is to ensure honest business practices and level the playing field between domestic manufacturers and exporters and those from other countries
