India’s Competition Commission of India (CCI) has found seven regional steel industry associations in violation of anti-trust rules during a wider investigation into alleged price fixing.

According to industry sources, the associations were found to have acted as conduits for steel companies under investigation for anti-competitive practices.

The seven associations include groups based in:

  • Jalna
  • Hyderabad
  • Raipur
  • Chhattisgarh
  • Mandi Gobindgarh

The broader CCI probe covers alleged collusion during 2018–2023 involving major steelmakers such as:

  • Tata Steel
  • JSW Steel
  • SAIL
  • Rashtriya Ispat Nigam

The investigation remains a significant development for India’s steel industry and competition landscape.
