Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL) has launched a new line of stainless steel salt tipper trailers, aiming to tackle corrosion and high maintenance costs in India’s salt transport sector.
The stainless steel trailers are up to 25% lighter and offer an estimated savings of INR 2.5–3 million ($28,000–34,000) over 10 years, with a service life of 15–20 years—far longer than conventional mild steel trailers that typically corrode within 3–4 years.
Demand for salt tipper trailers in India is estimated at around 70,000 units annually, with strong uptake expected in key salt-producing regions like Sambhar, Nawa, and Kuchaman in Rajasthan.
