Jindal India Limited (JIL), part of the B C Jindal Group, has commissioned a new steel coating line for the production of value-added coated steel products in West Bengal, the company said in a statement on Monday, February 9.
The project represents an investment of $121 million and is expected to increase JIL’s value-added steel production capacity by 60 percent, taking output to around 0.3 million metric tons per year.
The newly commissioned line was supplied by SMS Esmech and features advanced automation, precise coating control systems, and enhanced process controls, according to the company.
JIL said the new facility is expected to contribute an incremental 20 percent to the company’s total revenues, strengthening its position in the coated and value-added steel segment.
The commissioning aligns with JIL’s strategy to expand downstream capabilities and meet rising domestic demand for higher-value steel products.
