Japan-based Kobe Steel Ltd has reported lower net profit and revenues for the first nine months of its 2025–26 financial year, citing weaker steel prices and higher costs.

For the April–December period, the company posted a net profit of JPY 84.33 billion, compared with JPY 116.84 billion a year earlier. Consolidated net sales declined 5.6 percent year on year to JPY 1.77 trillion.

The company said earnings were pressured by lower unit selling prices in the steel segment, rising costs, and negative inventory valuation effects. Crude steel production totaled 4.36 million mt, down 3.7 percent year on year, while sales volumes fell 2.2 percent to 3.48 million mt.

For the full 2025–26 fiscal year, Kobe Steel forecasts crude steel output of about 5.80 million mt, sales volumes of around 4.60 million mt, and revenues of JPY 2.44 trillion.
