Japan-based Kyoei Steel has revised its investment plan for Vinton Steel LLC in the US, raising the planned annual capacity to 360,000 net tons, up from 330,000 net tons.

The revision is part of the company’s Nexus II 2026 medium-term business plan (2025–2027), aimed at strengthening overseas operations, particularly in North America.

The updated project includes:

  • New melt shop supplied by Tenova

  • Major rolling mill upgrades by Pomini Long Rolling Mills

  • Engineering and construction management by Techint Engineering & Construction

Due to inflation, higher construction costs, and the impact of US reciprocal tariffs, the total investment has increased by $72 million, bringing the revised total to $327 million.

Construction is scheduled to begin in April 2026, with melt shop operations expected in March 2027 and full commercial production starting in October 2027.
