US specialty steel producer Metallus reported improved financial results for the second quarter of 2026, supported by robust demand from the aerospace and defense sectors, along with stronger shipments and a more favorable product mix.

The company posted net sales of $341.0 million, up 12% year on year from $304.6 million. Net income increased to $8.9 million, while adjusted EBITDA rose 9% year on year to $29.0 million, reflecting higher shipments, improved pricing and better operating performance.

Shipments reached 174,200 tons, up 4% from the same period last year, driven by record deliveries to the aerospace and defense market. The company also reported that its order book has grown by more than 50% year on year, providing strong visibility for the second half of 2026.

Looking ahead, Metallus expects profitability to continue improving as demand remains healthy across its key end markets. The company is also advancing strategic investments to expand production capacity and strengthen its position in high-value sectors such as aerospace, defense and energy.
