NBCC (India) Limited has invited bids for the construction of a 4,000 kWp grid-connected solar power project at the Bokaro steel plant operated by state-owned Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), according to a company statement issued on December 17.
The contract will be awarded on an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis, covering design, supply, erection, commissioning and testing of the solar facility. In addition, the selected bidder will be responsible for five years of operation and maintenance.
The project is scheduled for completion within eight months and represents a significant expansion of renewable energy capacity at the Bokaro steel mill. The initiative aligns with broader efforts by NBCC and SAIL to increase solar power integration, improve energy efficiency, and reduce reliance on conventional power sources within industrial operations.
