The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has issued preliminary countervailing duty results on rebar imports from Vietnam, Egypt and Algeria, covering the review period from January 1 to December 31, 2024.
The DOC preliminarily found that countervailable subsidies were provided to exporters in all three countries. The proposed net subsidy rates are:

1.08% for Hoa Phat Group and other Vietnamese exporters

29.51% for Egyptian exporters

72.94% for Tosyali Iron Steel Industry Algeria SPA and other Algerian companies
The DOC stated that the final determination will be issued within 120 days following publication of the preliminary results.
If confirmed, the final subsidy rates could result in higher duties on rebar imports, potentially impacting trade flows into the US market.
