The Argentine Chamber of Steel Industry (Acero Argentino) has reported that crude steel production fell to 356,700 metric tons in September, down from 370,300 metric tons in August.

Compared with September 2024, crude steel output declined 3.8%, while HRC production increased by 13.8% and CRC rose 4.6%. However, long products production plunged by 21%, highlighting continued weakness in construction-related demand.

The civil construction sector remains sluggish, though cement acquisitions rose 3.7%, indicating early signs of recovery.
Meanwhile, the automotive industry grew 5.8% month-on-month, though still 5% below last year’s level.

High interest rates and import costs continue to weigh on Argentina’s machinery and equipment sector, while consumer goods and packaging industries face low demand and competition from imported finished products.
