Ferrexpo, a Ukrainian iron ore producer listed on the London Stock Exchange, has announced its readiness to supply high-quality direct reduction (DR) pellets to European steelmakers. Acting Chief Marketing Officer Yaroslavna Blonska stated that the company can meet the EU's demand for DR pellets, essential for producing green steel, as decarbonization projects commence between 2027 and 2028.
Blonska emphasized Ferrexpo's long-standing collaboration with EU customers, which has enabled the company to enhance product quality and align with Europe's standards for transparency, accountability, and sustainability. Despite a current decline in European demand, Ferrexpo anticipates a gradual recovery in the latter half of 2025.
The company highlights Ukraine's strategic importance to the sustainable development of the European steel industry, given its advantageous location and ability to supply raw materials via barge, rail, and sea. Ferrexpo's commitment to long-term contracts, quality investments, and flexible logistics positions it as a reliable partner in the EU's green transition.
