Production of iron ore by the state-owned miner fell by 1.5 percent in September 2022 to 2.73 million tons from 2.69 million tons in September 2021.
Sales of iron ore increased by 6.59 percent to 2.91 million tons in September 2022 from 2.73 million tons in September 2021, totaling 2.91 million tons.
In September 2022 compared to August 2022, the company's iron ore output climbed by 10.08 percent, but iron ore sales decreased by 2.83 percent.
With three completely automated mines, two in Chhattisgarh and one in Karnataka, NMDC is now producing over 35 million tons of iron ore, making it the single largest producer of iron ore in India. The Government of India owned 60.79 percent of the company as of June 30, 2022.
