JAPAN'S INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION INCREASED BY 0.2% FROM OCTOBER TO NOVEMBER

According to the preliminary indexes of the Industrial Production report released by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, in November of last year, Japan's industrial production increased by 0.2 percent compared to the month before and decreased by 0.9 percent compared to the same month in 2021. (METI).


On the other hand, Japan's seasonally adjusted iron and steel production index increased by 1.4 percent in the given month compared to October, while the country's overall iron and steel production index declined by 7.7 percent year over year in November. While this was happening, iron and steel stockpiles and shipments from Japanese producers also decreased in November when compared to the prior month by 0.7 percent and 0.3 percent, respectively.

Japanese industrial production is anticipated to increase by 2.8 percent in December and decline by 0.6 percent in January, both on a month-over-month basis, according to the ministry's Survey of Production Forecast in Manufacturing. The output of iron and steel in Japan is anticipated to increase by 0.5 percent in December and decrease by 3.5 percent in January.
