NMDC BOOSTS IRON ORE PRICES: LUMP ORE NOW PRICED AT INR 4,400 PER TON, FINES AT INR 3,910 PER TON

India's largest iron ore producer NMDC has increased the price of its lump ore by INR 100 (USD 1.22) per ton and fines by INR 500 (USD 6.1) per ton. As a result of the price hike, lump ore now costs INR 4,400 (USD 53.7) per ton, while the price of fines has been fixed at INR 3,910 (USD 47.7) per ton.

According to a filing by NMDC, its iron ore production in January was 4.20 million tons, compared to 4.56 million tons in the same period in the previous fiscal year. Sales were also comparatively lower, at 3.84 million tons as opposed to 4.24 million tons.

Over the ten-month period ending January, production stood at 31.14 million tons, compared to 32.88 million tons in the year-earlier period. Sales were at 29.64 million tons as compared to 32.60 million tons.
