Recently, SteelAsia Manufacturing Corporation, the premier steel manufacturer in the Philippines, and Tenova, a leading developer and provider of sustainable solutions for the green transition of the metals industry, signed a partnership for Consteel Evolution, a cutting-edge low-impact technology for steel manufacturing. In 2024, SteelAsia's new melt shop in Lemery, Batangas, will utilise it, making it the first of its sort in the nation.
Tenova's scope of work includes the EAF (Electric Arc Furnace) Consteel Evolution, the secondary metallurgy station, the billet caster, the Fume Treatment Plant (FTP), and the material handling systems, in addition to all engineering services for the civil works and the balance of the plant, in order to ensure the smooth operation of the entire line.
Local scrap metal will be recycled at the new Consteel Evolution melt factory to create high-grade billets for steel sections. The cutting-edge Lemery factory will also be among the world's cleanest steel mills. It would produce the fewest carbon emissions while giving Filipinos access to premium steel pieces made with the greenest methods.
Through effective energy recovery and pollution control technologies, the Consteel Evolution technology decreases environmental impacts, decarbonizes the manufacturing of steel, and saves energy. SteelAsia seeks to enhance its productivity by maximizing the use of scrap metal, a crucial national resource used in the production of steel with minimal carbon emissions.
