Swedish specialty steel producer SSAB has announced a new partnership with Putzmeister, a global manufacturer of construction equipment, to supply fossil-free steel. This deal will help Putzmeister reduce the carbon footprint of its products, including concrete pump trucks and concrete mixers.
Putzmeister has been using SSAB's high-strength structural steel, branded Strenx®, and wear plates under the brand Hardox®, which have enhanced the durability of its equipment. Under the new agreement, SSAB will now provide its fossil-free steel branded SSAB Fossil-freeTM to Putzmeister.
SSAB Fossil-freeTM is produced using the HYBRIT® technology, a collaborative effort between SSAB, Swedish mining company LKAB, and energy company Vattenfall to produce steel with zero fossil CO2 emissions.
