The Turkish Association of Cold-Rolled, Galvanized, and Painted Flat Steel Producers (SOGAD) has urged the Ministry of Trade to impose temporary antidumping measures on imports of cold-rolled, galvanized, and painted steel from China and South Korea.

According to SOGAD, imports surged after an antidumping investigation began in December 2024, exploiting regulatory loopholes and undermining domestic producers.

January–August 2025 Import Growth:

  • Painted steel from China: +43% YoY (299,000 tons)

  • Galvanized steel: +16% YoY (109,000 tons)

  • Cold-rolled steel from China & South Korea: +53% YoY (from 290,000 to 444,000 tons)

Total imports of these three categories reached 1.1 million tons, up 31% YoY. SOGAD warns that without prompt tariffs, domestic producers risk losing market share.

During the same period, Turkey’s overall steel imports rose 17.9% YoY to 12.6 million tons, worth $8.8 billion (+3.6% YoY).
