US Raw Steel production Up 0.5 Percent Week-on-week

The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that in the week ending on May 27, 2023, the United States produced 1,737,000 net tons of raw steel domestically, with a capability utilization rate of 77.2 percent.

Compared to the previous week ending on May 20, 2023, which saw a production of 1,728,000 net tons and a capability utilization rate of 76.8 percent, production for the week ending May 27, 2023 increased by 0.5 percent.

In the corresponding week of the previous year, ending May 27, 2022, production was recorded at 1,771,000 net tons, and the capability utilization rate was 81.1 percent. The current week's production represents a decrease of 1.9 percent compared to the same period in the previous year.

The year-to-date production through May 27, 2023, adjusted for the period, amounted to 35,352,000 net tons, with a capability utilization rate of 75.1 percent. This reflects a 3.9 percent decrease from the same period last year, when production reached 36,774,000 net tons, and the capability utilization rate was 80.5 percent.
