Uzbekistan's leading steel producer, Uzmetkombinat, is set to commence operations at its new hot-rolled steel production facility in Bekabad this May. The state-of-the-art complex is designed to produce over 1 million tons of hot-rolled steel annually, aiming to reduce the country's reliance on imports and bolster its export capabilities.

The facility incorporates advanced continuous production technology, allowing semi-finished products to be directly fed into rolling without reheating, thereby enhancing efficiency and reducing energy consumption. Equipped with a 120-ton electric arc furnace, a continuous casting machine, and a rolling mill, the complex utilizes modern filtration and energy-saving systems to minimize environmental impact.

This ambitious project is expected to create approximately 1,250 direct jobs and up to 5,000 indirect jobs in related industries such as construction, engineering, and transportation. With significant investments from international partners, including €359.3 million in infrastructure and equipment by Danieli and €170 million in construction by Turkey's Ronesans Eurasia, Uzmetkombinat is poised to strengthen Uzbekistan's steel industry and economic growth.
