Vietnam's steel imports experienced a significant increase in February, rising by 64.2% from January to reach 1,559,879 metric tons. Similarly, the country’s scrap imports also saw a notable jump, growing by 71.6% month on month to 517,149 metric tons, according to data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
Despite the sharp rise in February, Vietnam's steel imports for the first two months of the year decreased by 5.3% compared to the same period last year, totaling 2.51 million metric tons. Meanwhile, scrap imports for the January-February period amounted to 818,362 metric tons, showing a slight 0.1% year-on-year decrease.
