UK-based plantmaker Primetals Technologies has signed a partnership agreement with Vietnam’s Xuan Thien Group for the construction of two advanced steel production lines at the Xuan Thien Nam Dinh green steel complex.
Under the agreement, Primetals will act as technology partner, providing process know-how, engineering services, and key plant equipment. The company said the project will introduce technical configurations not previously installed in Vietnam, representing a significant upgrade in the country’s steelmaking capabilities.
Heavy plate production line
The first production line will focus on heavy plate manufacturing and will include:

EAF Ultimate electric arc furnace, offering high raw material flexibility and reduced energy consumption

Twin ladle furnace

Twin vacuum degassing unit

Continuous slab caster

Plate Steckel mill
According to Primetals, this setup will enable high-quality plate production for demanding applications.
Endless hot rolled coil line
In parallel, a second line will be built for endless hot rolled coil production, featuring:

Two EAF Ultimate furnaces

Two twin ladle furnaces

Two twin vacuum degassing units

Arvedi ESP technology
Primetals stated that Arvedi ESP will allow the production of ultra-thin hot rolled products, significantly expanding Vietnam’s downstream steel product range.
