Initial figures released by Acero Argentino (AA), Argentina's steel industry chamber, suggest that crude steel production in August surged by 22.0 percent to reach 421,900 metric tons, marking a significant rebound from July. This resurgence is attributed to a return to normal operations following labor strikes in July, which severely disrupted steel production in Argentina, led by the UOM workers union.
In a similar comparative context, the production of Hot Rolled Coils (HRC) saw a notable increase of 16.3 percent, reaching 209,500 metric tons. Concurrently, Cold Rolled Coils (CRC) production experienced a modest rise of 3.7 percent, reaching 109,700 metric tons, while long product production expanded by 12.4 percent, reaching 188,300 metric tons.
