Northern mills saw less success than expected at the EUR 850 (USD 871) per ton pricing level, EXW Ruhr, according to Northern European sources, which saw lower HRC prices as doable.
The source claimed that while prices were actually stable around EUR 850 (USD 871) per ton EXW Ruhr, other mills were acting more assertively in talks and that prices as low as EUR 800 (USD 820) per ton were seen to be attainable for EXW Northern Europe.
According to reports, mills were using significant discounts to transfer volumes in an effort to reduce stock levels.
Due to anticipated output decreases, there were no active offers in South Europe, although the most recent offers for September rolling were deemed steady.
No commercial activity was observed, however mill sources quoted workable pricing on a range of EUR 780–800 (USD 809–820) per ton EXW Italy.
According to reports, import offers last week were from EUR 680 to 700 (USD 697 to 717) per ton CFR Italy ex-Asia.
