Indian steelmaker JSW Steel and South Korea’s POSCO have signed a non-binding heads of agreement to evaluate the construction of a 6 million tpa greenfield steel plant in Odisha, India.
The project builds on a 2024 memorandum of understanding between the two companies for a 50:50 joint venture. A detailed feasibility study will determine site selection, resource allocation, and investment requirements.
If realized, the plant would significantly enhance India’s steelmaking capacity and bolster its competitiveness in the global market.
