The Luxembourg-based steelmaker ArcelorMittal has announced that it would begin supplying low-carbon emission steel and certifications for carbon savings to the steel service center EMW Stahl Service GmbH in Germany this year.
The firm will get low carbon content XCarb® steel from ArcelorMittal. The XCarb® recycled steels are made using renewable power and scrap, which accounts for 70% of their production (100 percent).
By 2030, ArcelorMittal wants to cut carbon emissions by 35%, while EMW wants to be climate neutral for scopes 1 and 2.
With German steelmaker Salzgitter, EMW reached an arrangement in December of last year to acquire a certain amount of green steel.
