On September 1, 2025, Germany’s Salzgitter AG broke ground on a new €30 million scrap shredder facility as part of its SALCOS® low-CO₂ steelmaking program.
The plant will help process high-quality scrap for sustainable steel production and is expected to be operational in the first half of 2027.
This project is a key step in Salzgitter’s plan to reduce carbon emissions and create a closed-loop production system using recycled steel.
