Tata Steel Nederland has commissioned a new production line for packaging steel, marking a significant step toward more sustainable and regulation-ready steel production.
The new line utilizes the company’s proprietary Trivalent Chromium Coating Technology (TCCT), which enables compliance with upcoming chemical-use legislation while improving environmental and workplace safety.
Tata Steel Nederland is the exclusive developer and patent holder of TCCT and also supplies the technology to other steel producers, positioning it as a potential European standard for sustainable packaging steel production.

When combined with Protact®, Tata Steel Nederland’s polymer-coated packaging steel, TCCT enables compliance with the strictest food safety standards while eliminating the need for customers to apply additional lacquer coatings.
As a result, customers benefit from lower production costs, reduced chemical usage, simplified supply chains, and enhanced collaboration across the packaging industry.
