Turkey’s Automotive Market Contracts in First Nine Months of 2026

Turkey’s domestic automotive market continued to weaken in the first nine months of 2026, with combined passenger car and light commercial vehicle sales falling 13.4% year on year to 803,465 units, according to data from the Turkish Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD).

Passenger car sales totaled 627,977 units during the January-September period, down 15.5% year on year. Light commercial vehicle sales declined at a slower pace, falling 5.1% to 175,488 units.

In September alone, combined sales reached 83,469 units, representing a 24.3% decline year on year, although the figure increased 3% month on month.

Passenger car sales in September fell 27.8% year on year to 63,736 units, while rising 3.6% from August. Light commercial vehicle sales totaled 19,733 units, down 10.4% year on year but up 1.2% month on month.
