Ukraine exported approximately 45,000 mt of semi-finished steel products in September 2026, down 69% year on year, despite a 72% month-on-month increase, according to GMK Center calculations based on State Customs Service data.

Bulgaria remained the largest destination during the month, receiving 26,000 mt, down 14% year on year but ten times higher than in August. Exports to Poland totaled 3,000 mt, falling 76% year on year and 81% month on month.

During January-September 2026, Ukraine's semi-finished steel exports reached 945,000 mt, representing a marginal 0.3% increase compared with the same period last year.

Bulgaria accounted for 412,000 mt of nine-month shipments, up 19% year on year, followed by Poland with 124,000 mt, up 3%, and Turkey with 111,000 mt, down 33%.

In value terms, September export revenue declined 63% year on year to $24 million, although it increased 59% from August. For the first nine months, export revenue rose 8% year on year to $485 million.

The figures indicate a sharp annual contraction in September shipments, while cumulative exports remained broadly stable compared with 2025.
