Based on the export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of cold finished bar in May 2023 amounted to 12,488 metric tons (mt), showing an increase of 5.2 percent from the previous month (April), but a decline of 13.8 percent compared to May 2022.
In terms of value, the total exports of cold finished bar in May were valued at $31.5 million, indicating growth from the previous month's $26.9 million but a slight decrease from the $31.6 million recorded in May of the previous year.
Canada was the primary destination for US cold finished bar exports in May, receiving 6,066 mt, lower than the 6,191 mt exported in April and significantly less than the 8,492 mt shipped in May 2022. Additionally, Mexico was another major destination, also receiving 6,066 mt of cold finished bar in May. No other destinations received significant quantities (1,000 mt or more) of US cold finished bar exports during that month.
