The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has officially launched antidumping duty (AD) investigations into imports of tin mill steel products from China, Taiwan, and Turkey, as part of efforts to determine whether these products are being sold in the US market at unfairly low prices.

The investigations were initiated following petitions filed on April 9, 2026 by US Steel Corporation and the United Steelworkers union.

According to the petitioners, estimated dumping margins are:

  • China: 202.02% to 1,077.08%
  • Taiwan: 152.15% to 160.37%
  • Turkey: 190.95% to 192.91%

The DOC stated that the investigation period for China covers January 1 through December 31, 2025, while the period for Taiwan and Turkey runs from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026.

The investigation covers various tin mill steel products classified under multiple HTSUS categories for alloy and non-alloy steel products.

In addition, the Department of Commerce confirmed that it is conducting a parallel countervailing duty (CVD) investigation on Chinese tin mill products, further intensifying trade scrutiny in the sector.
