According to the industry group Anfavea, the Brazilian auto industry finished 2022 with 2.37 million units manufactured, 5.4 percent higher than in 2021, with 195,100 units (cars, trucks, and buses) produced in December.
The first four months of the year were challenging owing to a lack of semiconductors, but since then, the production speed has quickened and has been able to partially meet the restrained demand in local and overseas markets, according to Anfavea's president Marcio de Lima Leite.

2.104 million units were sold domestically in 2022, which is 0.7 percent fewer than in 2021. In 2022, exports climbed by 27.8% to 480,900 units on the same comparable basis.

Anfavea anticipates 2.17 million domestic sales and 467,000 units exports for 2023.
