British Steel has supplied 480 metric tons of structural steel sections for a major industrial development at Associated British Ports’ (ABP) Helm site in Immingham, a project described as one of the most significant in the region in decades.

The development is located at the Stallingborough Interchange, close to British Steel’s Scunthorpe works, and spans 227 acres. The site will feature eight industrial and logistics units, targeting tenants from sectors including energy, engineering, manufacturing, and port logistics.

The steel has been delivered through Billington Structures and will form the primary structural framework of the new buildings.

Strategic location supports jobs and logistics

The project’s proximity to the Humber estuary ports of Immingham and Grimsby is expected to enhance logistics capabilities and support hundreds of local jobs once operational.

Construction of the industrial units began in December 2025 and is scheduled to continue into early 2026. British Steel said the project underlines the critical role of domestically produced structural steel in supporting UK industrial growth and infrastructure investment.
