China has set up a new working group to promote the development and large-scale application of rare earth steel, according to the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA).
The working group was formally established at a meeting held in Beijing on January 6 and reflects a coordinated national effort to advance technological innovation in rare earth steel.
The meeting was co-organized by Inner Mongolia Baotou Steel Union Co., Ltd., Shanghai University, and the metallurgical science and technology development center under CISA.
The group includes two sub-working units focusing on:
-
Engineering equipment applications
-
Building and structural steel applications
Participants include representatives from government agencies, steel producers, rare earth suppliers, universities, and research institutions.
CISA stated that the initiative is expected to promote a more standardized and systematic approach to rare earth steel usage, helping transform China’s rare earth resource advantages into industrial and technological strengths.
