Vietnam-based steelmaker Formosa Ha Tinh Steel (FHS) has resumed molten iron production at blast furnace No. 1 following an incident involving hot blast stove No. 3 on September 4. The blast furnace is currently receiving hot air from stoves Nos. 1, 2 and 4, enabling production to restart.

To stabilize operations, blast furnace No. 1 will initially run at approximately 50% of its capacity, with the operating rate expected to increase gradually. Meanwhile, repair work on hot blast stove No. 3 is continuing, with FHS aiming to complete the work as soon as possible.

FHS said its overall production and business operations remain stable despite the incident. The company had temporarily halted blast furnace No. 1 after the September 4 event.

During the first eight months of 2026, FHS produced more than 4.29 million mt of steel and recorded sales of approximately 4.14 million mt. Over the same period, the company contributed more than VND 4.5 trillion ($172.68 million) to Vietnam’s state budget.
