Mexico has issued preliminary findings in its antidumping investigation into hot rolled flat steel imports from China and Vietnam, signaling potential trade restrictions ahead.

According to the Mexican Ministry of Economy, there is sufficient preliminary evidence that imports were conducted at unfair pricing levels and pose a threat to the domestic steel industry.

As a result, provisional antidumping duties have been set at $216–230/mt for Chinese products and $196.9/mt for Vietnamese products.

The investigation, initiated in March 2025 following a complaint by Ternium Mexico, covers the period from September 2023 to August 2024. Authorities will continue evaluating the case before issuing a final determination.
