South Korea’s Korea Trade Commission (KTC), operating under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, has officially launched an antidumping (AD) investigation into imports of specialty steel bars and rods from China.
The investigation covers imports during the period from January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025 and follows complaints filed by major domestic producers SeAH Besteel and SeAH Changwon Special Steel.
The companies alleged that Chinese suppliers exported specialty steel products into South Korea at unfairly low prices, causing material injury to domestic manufacturers.
If preliminary findings confirm both dumping and injury, South Korean authorities may impose provisional antidumping duties before reaching a final decision.
The products under investigation cover multiple categories of specialty steel bars and rods under South Korea’s Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HSK) classifications.
The move reflects growing trade protection measures across Asia as domestic producers seek stronger safeguards against low-priced imports.
