Sweden-based global bearing company SKF has recently made strategic adjustments to its production operations by relocating a portion of its automotive bearing manufacturing from its Busan facility in South Korea to plants in China, India, and the central Mexican state of Puebla.
In an official statement, SKF explained that this move was aimed at bringing production closer to its customer base. "By transferring the supply of products to SKF's factories in Puebla, Mexico, Pune, India, and Shanghai ATC, China, these businesses will be closer to their existing customers," the company stated.
The decision aligns with SKF's broader Automotive strategy and its continuous efforts in portfolio re-positioning, with a particular focus on the electric vehicle drivetrain and commercial vehicle segments. This strategic realignment reflects the company's commitment to staying competitive and responsive to evolving industry trends.
SKF, with manufacturing facilities in the northern state of Nuevo León and the central state of Puebla in Mexico, employed 1,837 people as of the end of the previous year, according to information obtained by SteelOrbis. This move not only enhances operational efficiency but also contributes to regional employment and economic development.
The company, recognized for producing steel bearings for various industries, including automotive, industrial, and agriculture, is evidently adapting to market dynamics and positioning itself strategically in key regions to meet the demands of its diverse customer base.
