According to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey's cold rolled coil (CRC) imports in April of this year decreased by 10.9 percent compared to the previous month, amounting to 66,359 metric tons. However, there was a significant increase of 37.9 percent compared to the same period last year. The total value of these imports was $51.52 million, which experienced a decline of 9.8 percent compared to March and a decrease of 2.7 percent year on year.
Looking at the January to April period of this year, Turkey's CRC imports reached a total of 267,285 metric tons, showing a year-on-year increase of 26.8 percent. The revenue generated by these imports amounted to $204.16 million, which decreased by 7 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2022.
During the first four months of this year, South Korea held the top position as the largest source of CRC imports for Turkey, supplying 120,614 metric tons, representing a substantial year-on-year increase of 367.2 percent. Additionally, Turkey imported 73,239 metric tons of CRC from Russia during the same period.
