The combined oil and gas rig count in the United States and Canada increased during Week 25 of 2026, reflecting continued activity in the North American energy sector.

According to the latest industry data, the total rig count rose by 10 units week on week to 805 rigs.

In the United States, the number of active rigs increased by 7 units to 554 rigs. Canada added 3 rigs, bringing its total to 251 rigs.

Compared to the same week last year, the combined rig count was 24 units lower, indicating that drilling activity remains below 2025 levels despite recent gains.

The rig count is closely watched by steel producers and energy market participants, as drilling activity directly influences demand for products such as OCTG, line pipe, and other energy-related steel products.
