In a significant collaboration, China Steel Corporation (CSC), a steel manufacturer based in Taiwan, has joined forces with UK-based Primetals Technologies to undertake a decarbonization study with the goal of reducing carbon emissions at CSC's Kaohsiung plant in Taiwan by 25% before 2030.

This strategic partnership focuses on pinpointing opportunities to reduce CSC's carbon footprint through a combination of operational enhancements and the implementation of cutting-edge technological advancements at the Kaohsiung facility. Additionally, the study will explore potential operational improvements for the blast furnace and basic oxygen furnace route, contributing to the reduction of emissions.

Kaohsiung, boasting a crude steel production capacity of approximately 10 million metric tons annually, stands as Taiwan's largest steel production facility. Moreover, CSC has set a forward-thinking target to achieve carbon neutrality by the year 2050.
