The parties concluded a corresponding memorandum of understanding
Hydnum Steel is the first green steel plant in Spain, and one of the leading port and logistics operators in Europe, Euroports, will cooperate in the development of integrated logistics solutions that will optimize the steel supply chain on the continent. The companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU). This is stated in the message Hydnum Steel.
The parties, under the agreement, will work closely together to develop and implement an efficient logistics network focused on improving the transportation, storage and distribution of the steel rolls that Hydnum Steel will produce at its Puertollano plant.
In addition, the partnership between Hydnum Steel and Euroports provides efficient and reliable logistics solutions for key raw materials such as ferrous scrap, green metals and iron ore from different sources and different origins.
The main objectives of MoU are to introduce innovative solutions to reduce the time and cost of transporting metal products from the plant to the end user; development of logistics practices that minimize the carbon footprint, promote the use of multimodal transportation and environmentally friendly technologies; coordination between production and distribution; access to new customers in new markets through a well-structured logistics network.
According to Fernando Pessagna, Chief Strategy Officer at Hydnum Steel, this deal is a significant step towards improving the company’s supply chain.

The same concept applies to key strategic raw materials like ferrous scrap and iron ore. The experience and infrastructure of Euroports will be crucial in achieving these goals, «he said.
Carlos Soleto, MED Euroports Business Development Manager, notes that the company’s experience in logistics and port operations will allow them to provide integrated solutions that will increase Hydnum Steel’s competitiveness in the European market. The parties will jointly stimulate innovation and sustainability in the steel supply chain.
As reported earlier, Hydnum Steel will build the first green steel plant in Spain. The project received priority status from the government of the province of Castile-La Mancha. The future enterprise will produce high-quality rolled steel using “green” hydrogen to produce direct reduction iron (DRI). The DRI together with the recycled scrap will then be melted in an electric arc furnace.
It is planned that the initial production volume of the plant will be 1.5 million tons of rolled products per year. At subsequent stages, it will be increased to 2.6 million tons per year.
