The US Department of Commerce has officially initiated antidumping duty (AD) investigations into imports of tin mill products from China, Taiwan and Türkiye, examining whether the products are being sold in the US market at unfairly low prices.

The investigations follow petitions filed on April 9, 2026 by US Steel Corporation and the United Steelworkers union.

Petitioners alleged the following estimated dumping margins:

  • China: 202.02% to 1,077.08%
  • Taiwan: 152.15% to 160.37%
  • Türkiye: 190.95% to 192.91%

The Department of Commerce stated that the investigation period for China covers January 1 to December 31, 2025, while the review period for Taiwan and Türkiye spans April 1, 2025 through March 31, 2026.

The products under investigation include various tin mill steel products classified under multiple HTSUS categories for both alloy and non-alloy steel.

In parallel, Commerce is also conducting a countervailing duty (CVD) investigation on tin mill products from China.
