Taiwan has imposed provisional anti-dumping duties on imports of cold-rolled flat non-oriented electrical steel from South Korea and China, with the measure set to take effect on June 8, 2026.

The provisional duties will remain in place for four months as authorities continue the investigation into whether the imported products were sold at dumped prices and caused injury to Taiwan’s domestic industry.

The measure applies to electrical steel products from South Korea and China, with duty rates varying by exporter.

  • POSCO and related exporters will face a provisional duty of 45.68 percent
  • Other South Korean producers and exporters will be subject to 49.84 percent
  • All Chinese producers and exporters will face a provisional duty of 26.44 percent
  • The measure will remain effective for four months from June 8, 2026

Taiwanese authorities made a preliminary determination that dumping had occurred and that domestic producers had suffered material injury as a result. The provisional measures are intended to prevent further injury while the investigation continues.

A final determination on whether dumping occurred is expected within 60 days following the preliminary announcement.

The decision reflects Taiwan’s continued use of trade defense measures to protect local steel producers and maintain fair competition in the electrical steel market.
