US President Donald Trump has confirmed that the US will proceed with its plans to impose a 25% additional tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico, as scheduled, according to media reports.

Earlier this month, President Trump had delayed the decision for 30 days after discussions with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, during which he voiced concerns over border security. In response, both the Canadian and Mexican governments made various commitments to address the issue.

Meanwhile, 10% additional tariffs on China went into effect on February 4, prompting retaliation from China. The deadline for Canada and Mexico to take action expires next week. In his most recent statement, Trump emphasized that the tariffs would be imposed on time, asserting that the US has been taken advantage of by foreign nations on nearly everything.
