According to the Vietnam Steel Association (VSA), finished steel production in Vietnam for January totaled 2.3 million mt, marking a 7.9% month-on-month decline and a 9.2% drop compared to the same month last year. Meanwhile, steel product sales in January also saw a significant fall, down by 11.2% from December and 15.2% year-on-year, totaling 2.06 million mt.
In terms of trade, Vietnam's finished steel imports dropped sharply by 38.9% month-on-month and 36.2% year-on-year, reaching 950,000 mt. On the other hand, the country’s finished steel exports saw a 26.5% increase from the previous month, totaling 919,000 mt, though they still experienced a 20.7% year-on-year decline.
