Andritz, an Austrian-based plant and equipment supplier, has announced that it will provide a 100 MW green hydrogen plant to Rostock EnergyPort Cooperation GmbH (REPCO), a Germany-based joint venture. The joint venture, established in 2022, aims to accelerate the development of green hydrogen production and distribution infrastructure across Europe. RWE Generation SE, EnBW Neue Energien GmbH, RheinEnergie AG, and Rostock Port GmbH are the partners involved in this project. The plant is expected to be operational by 2027.
This plant will be among the first in Germany to contribute to the formation of a hydrogen production network, marking a significant milestone in Europe’s green energy transition. The scope of Andritz's supply includes the hydrogen production plant, offsites & utilities, hydrogen purification and compression systems, storage facilities, and a hydrogen filling station.
Michael Wurzel, REPCO’s managing director, stated, “The 100 MW electrolyzer is a pivotal project for REPCO, reinforcing the area’s role as a key energy transport hub. Andritz has demonstrated a deep understanding of the entire project scope, and we highly value their flexibility and collaborative approach.”
This marks Andritz's second contract for a 100 MW green hydrogen plant in Germany. The first contract, with Salzgitter Group, was secured in September 2023.
